Purpose:
The primary goal of this event would be to empower fathers to continue their parenting journey with confidence, whether they reside in the home with their child(ren) or not. As statistics demonstrate time and time again, where there is a healthy father dynamic, in or out of the child's primary residence, children are more likely not to drop-out of school and avoid gang activity.
Book Premise:
My Daughter's Keeper is a compelling story of a father's journey to strive against mounting odds to be present in his daughter's life. The story reveals the complexities of parenting as the author wrestles with his past to face self-imposed challenges in order to transition from a man given to selfish leanings, to an open-hearted and dutiful father. My Daughter's Keeper tugs on the heartstrings of any parent who has endured the pain and challenges of co-parenting, custody disputes, or separated families. Written with accountability and compassion, it has been crafted to challenge readers to consider the ways our circumstances, including the painful ones, set us up to develop into a better version of ourselves.
Qualification:
As a father, author, youth mentor and parent advocate, I believe I am uniquely qualified to have this discussion around responsible parenting and healthy relationships with men using an approach that is informative, entertaining, compassionate and relatable. As I said to Tom Joyner on a recent appearance on his radio program, "Every good father has a right to parent their children and every man has a responsibility to help develop the community he lives." Joining me will be my wife, Thea M. Winkler. Thea is a License, Marriage and Family Therapist as well an accomplished writer, stage performer and celebrated podcast host.
Event Focus:
In addition to the book reading, we will engage with the audience by answering their fatherhood and relationship related questions. With each response, our primary goal would be to inspire the fathers to think deeply and creatively about the significance of establishing and maintaining a healthy co-parent and/or parallel parenting dynamic. The strategies we will explore to achieve healthy parenting will include:
1. The benefits of non-violent communication
2. Defining parental roles outside of gender
3. Seeking outside counseling when necessary
4. Maintaining a healthy state of financial, mental and physical well-being
5. The role of self-reflection and ongoing personal development in healthy parenting
6. Overcoming Trauma & Parenting
7. Breaking unhealthy generational cycles
8. Joy-Centered Parenting
9. Blending Families
Books:
We would like to provide each father with a complimentary book at the conclusion of the event, to be personally signed by the author. My Daughter's Keeper's current retail price is $16.95. To make certain that each father can receive a book we will offer your organization each book at a 40% reduced rate.
Conclusion:
Healthy fatherhood is essential to a thriving community. Psychologists today are reporting that the absence of the father in the home is a significant cause of truancy, self-depreciating action and other maladaptive behaviors in all genders of children. Our goal with this event is to educate, inform, engage, and inspire each father to be the best version of themselves every day for the everlasting benefit of their children, their communities, and themselves.
Respectfully,
--
